Software Keys Overview

A Software Key is a virtual key. You will get it by e-mail. It includes the five digit key number together with a product key string.

With a software key there is no need to insert a physical dongle to the PC.

A software key can be either a non network (Fixed license) or a Floating license (providing concurrent licenses to clients on the network)

Software keys require an initial installation of a product key (This is the equivalent to inserting a dongle).

After the key is activated, the license is can be used and later, it can be updated whenever needed with additional modules or new versions.

This is done with regular activation.

Note:

Starting from version 21.4 online product key installation and the initial license activation are combined with a single click.
If needed the software key installation can also be done Offline
A software key cannot be removed, but it can be moved (rehosted).
You must not format/clone or ghost a pc with a software key before taking action, otherwise the key will become unusable.
