Tension Map

In version O/23 the Tension XY map has been restored to our suite of Fit Analysis options (Stretch Weft, Stretch Wapr and Distance to avatar).

The map displays the tension at each point, obtained by combining the stretch distortion in the warp and the weft, multiplied by the fabric’s resistance to stretch in each.

The results are displayed in units of gram-force/cm.

Click to see how this is calculated.

To display the Tension Map:

  1. Open a 3D file and simulate it.

  1. On the display toolbar click the small arrow next to the Fit Analysis icon:

  1. On the drop down menu select Tension XY.

  1. Now toggle Tension Map view by clicking the Fit Analysis icon

The Tension Map view is turned on or off.

Note:

  • When hovering the mouse over the cloth, the current point tension value is shown on the tension indicator on the top right.

  • You can save the PDS file with 3D data, re-open it and review saved Fit Analysis data (including Tension XY) without re-simulating the garment.
