Build Piece

You can use the Build Piece tool when you want to create a new piece from a different piece or pieces. This tool is commonly used for creating facing, pockets, cuffs, etc., by extracting pieces from a master pattern (a Map).

You can also use the Trace Segment tool to perform a similar operation. For more information, see Trace Segments Tool.

Advantages in comparison to Trace Segments Tool

  • Works faster – fewer clicks are required in order to select the desired area.

Disadvantages in comparison to Trace Segments tool

  • The Build Piece tool does not always select the correct area. However, certain actions can be taken in order to improve its functionality.

  • When building a piece with intersecting internals or from intersecting pieces, some grading points that were not on the original pieces might appear in the new piece, at the precise point of the intersection.
