Creating Animation

Create and save your animation.

Have your Animated Avatar file and your 3D Simulation PDS file ready.

To create an animated simulation:

  1. Go to  View > 3D Windows > Animation. The Animation dialog opens:

  1. On the 3D window tool bar, select Load Model toload an animated Avatar:

  1. Open the PDS file.
  2. Place the Pattern pieces properly around the avatar.

Note:

  • It is advised to click the "Play" button and simulate in the 3d window a few steps to ensure that all stitches are closing, count of pieces are correct and that simulation runs as expected. (do not wait for the full simulation to finish, stop It after a few steps.)
  • Rewind, Refresh Cloth,  if you have taken this "verification" step.

  1.  Set the path and file name for the animation cache:

  • Browse for the desired folder and enter the file name you wish for the cache file.

  1. Start the  Animation by pressing the Play button on the animation dialog.

  • The animation takes place.

  • The Animation will run all the frames simulating the garment  in each and storing it in the cache.

  • The time depends on the number of frames, the type of avatar motion and the complexity of the style simulated .

Note:

  • If you get cloth collisions, press Pause, Rewind and reposition style pieces around the avatar.

  • During the  Animation process you will see the “Simulation in Progress %” line under the avatar:

  1. Once Animation is completed, it will stop on the last frame.

  • You can now press Rewind and Play.

  • It will be played from the saved cache and you will see “Playback in Progress %” message under the avatar.

  1. Save your PDS file.
  • The current avatar and the animation cache are saved with the file.

  • PDS  will remember the path and name of the last cache file created and will attempt to automatically load it when opening the PDS file.

Note:

  • You can now use this to render animation sequence or single frame snapshots, review the fit, or send it to colleagues.

  • Use “Animation from cache” in the Save Images dialog to generate animation sequence in OpenGL or Photorealistic quality.

  • You can Import  the cache and use it to play animation, render animation or review fit on animation.
