Bending Calculation

The Bending property (also known as stiffness or flexural rigidity) is calculated according to the following formula:

where

  • M – Weight per unit Area (g/m2)

  • BL – Bending length (cm)

  • BA – Bending Angle (deg)

When the Angle measurement scheme is utilized as shown below, the Bending Angle is predefined for the actually used measurement equipment. Typically, the bending Angle value commonly used in the industry is equal to 41.5°.

 

In a case when the Height/Distance scheme is utilized, the Bending Angle is not explicitly defined by the equipment. However, the Bending Angle value could be defined using the following formula:

where

  • BH – Bending Height (cm)

  • BD – Bending Distance (cm)

When the Height/Distance measurement scheme is utilized, the Bending Height is predefined for the actually used measurement equipment.
