This section covers general questions about Optitex, system requirements,
versions, and processes.
Can Optitex
run on MAC?
Currently,
the Mac Operating system is not supported. However, you can use dual
boot utilities, such as Boot-Camp, that can run Windows on Apple computers.
Can Optitex
open Lectra files (MDL or PLX)?
Yes. However you first need to convert the Lectra file(s)
into an Optitex supported format, you can do that by using a unique
Optitex Converter (Converter 3 – available for purchase). Or you can
use a universal data exchange format such as DXF/AAMA/ASTM.
What
is the current version of Optitex and where can I find the download link?

What are the
minimum and maximum requirements?
Can the current
version of Optitex work on Windows XP?
Although it may work, version 12 and higher is not officially supported
on Windows XP.
I have an older
version of Optitex (8, 9, etc.) can I use it with Windows 7 or 8?
These versions were discontinued and
were not designed to work on advanced operating systems. Therefore,
versions 8 or 9 that are installed on modern operating systems, such
as Win 7 or Win 8, will not work. Please contact support to find out
how to upgrade to the latest version.
Do you have
a 64 bit installer?
Yes,
Optitex offers two different installation options - 32 bits
and 64 bits.
How do I report
a bug?
To open a bug, click
here then follow the directions. Make sure you fill in all the details and attach files,
screenshots and illustrations.
What
happens if I upgrade to the current version, will I lose my preferences
and customizations?
If there is a minor update, then all
customizations and preferences will remain unchanged.
Make
sure you login with full administrator privileges to insure copying
of the settings from the existing installation to the new upgraded
version.
Note:Customizations of toolbars and
the program layout will not be copied from existing installations.
What languages
do you have available in Optitex?
Optitex is available in 23 Languages
. The default is English but changing the working language is easy
through the Select Language utility.
The list includes
the following:
Arabic, Bulgarian,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Croatian, Dutch, French,
German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese
Brazilian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, and Turkish.
How do you
install Optitex in different languages?
Starting from Version 11, you can change
the language via the SelectLang application. From theStartmenu,
go toOptitex Utilitiesas

Can Optitex
help me find a file or folder that I lost?
In Optitex, you can open the Optitex
temporary backup files to view files that were previously worked on
but were not saved.
However,
if an Optitex file was removed or deleted, we will not be able to
help. We recommend that you backup your data regularly to avoid unpleasant
situations.
I think I have
a virus, can Optitex help me?
Servicing the computer is not
in the scope of Optitex Support. We will however be able to assist
you with subjects that are related to the Optitex Software suite.
For servicing issues, we suggest you contact a service center for
your PC.
Is there a
trial version or demo of Optitex?
Optitex does not have a demo version.
However, if you are interested, contact an Optitex representative
in your region and they will arrange a software demonstration for
you and discuss different options for testing the software for a trial
period.
I have an idea
for a feature. How can I submit it?
We are always happy to receive
new ideas from our users. The best way to submit a feature request
is by submitting it to our portal. Please try to include as much information
as to what you need , why it is important, what will be the best use
for it, etc. We will follow up with more questions if needed and will
let you know the status of your request.
How can I open
up Teamviewer when Optitex is not starting?
Go to C:\Program
Files (x86)\Optitex 12\App folder and click on TeamViewerQS.exe

Can Optitex
open Assyst files?
Currently Optitex does not offer a way to open or convert Assyst
native files. The only way to exchange data with the Assyst system
is by using AAMA or ASTM formats.
I installed
version 12, but I am missing the Modulate program. Why is this?
Modulate
is not part of the Optitex 12 suite. Contact Optitex support or you
local dealer for the Modulate Installation file.
How can I backup
my settings, or copy them from one computer to another?

To backup your Optitex preferences
and settings, copy yourOptitexXX.ini
file.
The file is usually located in C:\ProgramData\Optitex.

To backup your plotter setup, copy the OutMan.ini
which is usually located in
C:\Program Files\Optitex XX\App.

If
you are using OCC, you need to copy the OCC.ini
file, usually located in
C:\Program Files\Optitex XX\App\Occ
You can share this file with other workstations
by copying it to the proper location on the target computer. Make
sure that you have admin privileges.
I do not have
a plotter, can I plot my patterns or markers in a print shop?
Find
out what type of plotters or programs the printer service is using.Most likely you will be able
to send them a DXF file which can be loaded into another plotter manager
utility or to another CAD software.
Another option is to create a PDF
file from the PRINT dialog in Optitex. Please note that Print is not
as accurate as the plot function and the conversion to PDF is done
by a 3rd party program. To do so, first make sure you have a PDF printer
installed (e.g. CuteFTP or similar).

Print Working Area.

Under Scaling,
select Scale and enter

make the required selections.

From the Printed
drop-down list, select the PDF Printer.

Select your required paper size or create
a custom size.

Click Ok,
then Ok again to save
the PDF file.
Can I open
other CAD system files in Optitex?
Other CAD files cannot be opened directly
by Optitex but they can be imported into Optitex or converted to Optitex.
Most CAD systems
can export their styles to standard CAD format such as DXF or AAMA
which can imported into Optitex.
In
addition, Optitex offers direct converters from Lectra MDL files,
Gerber Zip files and Investronica EXP files.
What
is the Optitex web services? How can I get more credits?
Optitex web services allows you to convert
files and nest markers without the need for the software.You can find information about

Register or sign
in to your account. The Buy Credit option is shown in the upper right
corner.
Use your Paypal
account to purchase credits to buy more tasks.
Can
a Nest ++2 key be upgraded to a Nest ++Pro?
No,
this is a different key type. Contact Optitex sales to find out your
options.
I am trying
to Launch CutPlan on Windows 7 but it isn't opening, why is this?
Currently CutPlan cannot be launched on Windows 7, you have to install
Windows 7 SP1 in order to fix this issue.
How
can I collect system details if I experience frequent crashes?
If
you experience frequent crashes, do the following to set up and retrieve
dump files:
1. In
the Start search area, search regedit and select the app from the
list to open.
2. Navigate
to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps.
3. Right-click
on the main background and select the ‘’string value’’ option. Name
the new file ‘’DumpFolder’’.
4. Right-click
on the new folder and select ‘’Modify’’. Add %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps to
the Value data section.
5. Right-click
on the main background and select the ‘’QWord’’ option. Name the new
file ‘’DumpType’’.
6. Right-click
on the new folder and select ‘’Modify’’. Add 2 to the Value data
section.
