Creating Mating Lines
The Mating Line tools allow you to create/edit mating lines on an avatar according to your needs. These tools allow you to create lines, create symmetry, edit lines, and more.
Note: For the create and edit lines to be available, you need to select the Original Size and Static Position as the Final Pose.
To create a mating line:
Load your avatar.
Once you select the Original Size and Static Position as the Final Pose, the five mating line tools in the middle of the toolbar will be available/enabled.
The following are the mating line tools and their descriptions.
Draw Mating - Draw mating lines on the avatar. Once the tool is selected, it will appear in orange, and the mouse cursor will change to the mating tool.
Edit Mating - Edit existing mating lines. Once the tool is selected, it will appear in orange, and the mouse cursor will change to the mating tool.
Mating line measurements - Show/hide the measurements of the mating line.
Point view - This view will show all points that the mating line contains (when creating a line, the distance between the points in the line will be approximately 1 cm by default).
Line view - This mode will show only the line on the avatar, without points (when creating a line, the distance between the points in the line will be approximately 1 cm by default).
Drawing Mating Lines
Once you select a drawing tool and the drawing cursor on the avatar, you'll see the projected point on the avatar. The start point will always be in yellow.
When you continue drawing the same line, the next projected point will appear, as well as the line from the previous point to the next projected point. The line measurement will also appear. Once you move the mouse, the projected point moves with the line, and the measurements will update accordingly.
Note: When creating a line, the distance between the points in the line will be approximately 1 cm by default.
Note: You can also use the spline tool to create curved mating lines. To access the spline tool, hold down the mouse and click the draw mating tool using the LMB. The spline tool will appear instead of the line tool in the toolbar. Note that you cannot combine the line and spline tool in the same line drawing. Changing tools while drawing will finish the line drawing.
Editing Mating Lines
With the Edit Mating tool, you can edit the line by moving points. The new position of the line will appear with a dashed line until you select the place on the avatar and release the mouse button. To move a single point, select one point and move it.
Once the Draw/Edit Mating Lines tools are selected, you can open the menu using the RMB, to get the following options:
-
Flip direction reverses the starting point and ending point (and changes the point colors accordingly).
-
Make a symmetry create an identical shape on the other side. When using this option, whatever you do to the original shape will perform the same action to the symmetry shape.
-
Disconnect symmetry disconnects the symmetry you created. The symmetry line will be an independent line.
-
Exit tool exits the tool. Note that you can also exit the tool using the pointer toolat the top left of the toolbar.
Deleting Mating Lines
You can delete lines with the eraser tool , which deletes the entire line if the entire line is selected. Deleting a point will delete part of the line.
Note: Measurements will be recalculated according to line editing.
