Nesting Command

You can use the Nesting command when you want to nest your pieces. This allows you to place all the pieces on your table in the most efficient manner possible.

Optitex supports the following Nesting types:

  • Quick

  • Standard

  • Nest ++

  • Match ++

  • Nest ++2

  • Nest ++ Pro

Important: Your key must be setup with Nesting in order to use a Nesting algorithm. Please contact your local representative if you encounter any issues.

The Nesting command can be accessed via the Main Menu, or via the icon toolbar.

Note: The Nesting command appears for PDS files only after a marker order was created.

To use the Nesting command:

  1. From the Main Menu, go to Commands > Nesting.

The Nesting dialog appears:

Note: All fields that are greyed out are read only.

Column

Description

File

Displays the name of the Marker file for which you are running nesting.

Efficiency

Displays the efficiency of the selected Marker. The higher the percentage the better efficiency.

Current Length

Displays the length of the Marker table.

New Length

If you want to change the length of the table, enter the new length.

Width

Displays the width of the Marker table.

Material

If you have materials in the PDS file, you can select the material you want to use when nesting.

Algorithm

From the drop-down list, select the Nesting algorithm you require.

Time

If you want to change the amount of time it will take to nest, enter a new time.

Output File

If you want to change the location of where the output file is saved. Click on the column, click on the down arrow then select a desired location.

Save Nesting results to original files.

Select this checkbox if you want to save the Nesting results to the same location as the original file.

Note: If you select this option, the Output File column becomes greyed out.

  1. Click Ok to start the nesting process.

If you have created a Batch file, via Options > Save Batch File, the command will be added to your batch file.

Or

If you have not created a batch file, the file you are nesting opens in the Marker and nesting will be begin automatically.

When the file is done you can find the final results in the folder you selected earlier.
