Preparing a Design in 3DDI

Once the design is loaded, you can start working with it. Pieces on the 2D board and in the 3D window are mapped automatically.

Note:Starting from PDS version O21.0, we optimized Illustrator output to simplify users` work in 3DDI. Only the simulated size and all relevant elements are left visible in Illustrator. All other sizes and internal elements are hidden automatically. They remain hidden as  you add and load the design in 3DDI.

  1. The loaded design includes all sizes (if the design is graded in the PDS application) that are sorted by layers and commands (cut, draw, and sew) as sub-layers.

  2. Hide unneeded sizes and contours in the Layers panel. Once unneeded layers and contours are hidden, they will not affect the 3D after refresh.

Note:

  • The pattern size you are simulated in PDS application and then exported to 3DDI package is the size that you need to work on it in Adobe Illustrator and 3DDI plugin.
All other sizes (layers and sub-layers) should be hidden in Adobe Illustrator. Only 2D geometry that has appropriate mesh in 3D window should be visible.

  • If garment pieces have a 2D seam defined in PDS application, only the sub-layer Sew of the working size should be visible, all other sub-layers (Draw and Cut) should be hidden.
If 2D seam is not defined in PDS application, the
Cut sub-layer should be visible and all other sub-layers (Sew and Draw) should be hidden.
